Further information: AUDITION for (all together at the same time):

Musicians: We are looking for someone to plan an improvised- instrumental piece of music for Courtney's exploration. There are no specific requirements for this section. I am looking for someone who can play consistently for approximately 15 minutes. Preferred instruments: Piano and violin.

Artists (Painter): We are looking for someone who is open-minded. Must have an ear for detail. The idea for the artist, is to paint what he/she is hearing from the musician. Without communication, this said artist must be able to improvise a piece of artwork, based solely on the noises that he/she hears. Basic or complex shapes and lines are welcomed.

Dancers: must have a strong technical background with experience in improvisation techniques. Dancers must have a solid sense of detail, as they will be replicating the movement that they hear from a spoken word artist. Dancers must have the ability to transcend words into movement through a heavily connected process.

Please email Courtney at courtney.o.muir@gmail.com to rsvp for the audition.

Welcome to the SARUS Festival web site!

I am so excited that you are here to look at our festival and I hope that many of you will be back to attend in person in September.
There is still much time between now and then, but for me, planning and organizing is in full force already.

I look forward to the many collaborations that will take place and the exciting work that will be created. This is this strange time where everything is still foggy, only silhouettes are visible, where we have a vague idea of what it is we are going to extract out of intuition and thought. An absolutely lovely state for me as an artist....   it's like floating.

Hopefully this blog will help us remember the process,... the many, many steps that led up this gigantic mountain, and when we're  up there to look down and see how it all happened and came about, to see this artistic landscape we will be drawing together.

My vision is to attract a certain type of work. This is hard for me to explain, but it is work that touches deeply, that mesmerizes and speaks loud and clear. It is not trying to illustrate a situation or depict a fact, it senses deeply within, listens (my favorite), channels, catalyzes and brings forth something new, something unexpected, personal,  true. .....
I can't wait.

Artistic & Executive Director
Karola Luttringhaus
