My awareness of Minnie Evans began two years ago when first participating in the SARUS Festival. I always just wanted to climb on the house and use its windows to throw people out of.... sorry, but that's real honest. Once i started researching who Minnie Evans was, I was taken in initially by the color that most people are, in her work. Her eye for balance, and grounding angels was a big key point to me as well. However with years to digest this story, and truth of this amazing artist, and phenom I kept coming across this amazement about how she started. She believed a dream. Not like a kid dreams to grow and be something kind of dream, but like I went to bed and had this dream and it shook me and changed my life, along with everyone in it. I love exploring the human psyche, what makes us click and tock. So, I asked, what made this beautiful art? What makes a belief? What happens when the belief is not socially acceptable? And, what does that belief do to the rest of the "knowledge" entering the psyche? read the starnews preview and interview with Breanne Horne. About 'Dawn till Dusk':
I feel like as a human being i am on a journey by myself through this world, and there will always be unexpected encounters and challenges outside of myself as well as inside of myself. I feel like this piece is an exploration of slowing down, appreciating the seconds we have, the choices we make in continuing to explore our depths individually, as well as seeing our worth in each fleeting moment that we exist within. |
