SARUS FALL EQUINOX RETREAT

September 21-24, 2017
THURSDAY, 9/21
UNCW : Retreat Treats   10am- 4pm
There are 4 zones that will be holding free and open to all public exercises in mindfulness and creative therapy in blocked times throughout the beautiful East and North Campus quadrants. These will include Yoga, Meditation, Inversion Practice, Wiggle Therapy, Drum Circles, Humming/Chanting/group singing, Finger Painting, and Mandala creating.

Along the path that connects these 4 zones, installations will be set up. These installations will be various forms of what you the artist can perceive in the spaces provided. Visual artists, Musicians, Performance artists, Dancers, and Poets are all invited to submit applications for these installation pieces. This will be outdoors, and will ideally repeat throughout the day so you can experiment and play with the space and community around you.

#SARUScrane: compete to win gift certificates to your favorite local spots! The top 3 people to turn in the most pictures of our Creative Cranes wins. These cranes will be living in local participating businesses, and at each of the performance and workshop sites!
Riverfront Businesses and Parks: Retreat Treats 10am-4pm
Spread among the businesses and daily bustle, we will be hosting free and open to all public sessions in mindfulness of community through Yoga, Meditation, Inversion Practice, Wiggle Therapy, Drum Circles, Humming/ Chanting/ Singing, Finger Painting, and Mandala making.

Throughout the historic Riverfront area installations will be occurring. These will be any form of art that is relevant to the spaces provided and moves you to speak to/among the public. Be mindful of the public, we are not here to interrupt businesses, or stall traffic. We are presenting an installation, so be prepared and welcome for repetition and variation to happen. We have permission to be along the boardwalk, and in any of the alleyways that are not occupied, and in the mini parks like Bijou Park. Riverfront Park is currently only reserved for our culminating Saturday night line up. Submit those great ideas now! These are also outdoor spots until otherwise noted.

#SARUScrane: Compete to win gift certificates to your favorite local spots! The top 3 people to turn in the most pictures of our Creative Cranes wins! These cranes will be living in local participating businesses and at each of the workshop and installation sites.
